Sounds neat; how do I start earning?

Wait, hold on, the following criteria must be met before you can start earning:

  • Firstly you must have a Crypto wallet. If you don't have one, you may want to try one of the well-established ones, such as Coinbase or Mycelium.
  • The second step involves getting the necessary crypto or Nft for your game; you can head to a cryptocurrency exchange such as Binance or FTX Once you have the required currency. You must head to one of the Nft marketplaces to acquire some in-game NFT and start your gaming journey.
  • Lastly, you need to pick a suitable game. There are lots of play-to-earn blockchain Games to choose from, and  though this category is certainly newer than classic games, there are wide varieties to choose from, such as trading card games, Life simulators, first-person shooters, etc. (2)

Any recommendations?

As mentioned above, there are hundreds of games, but I find the ones below most appealing.

(1) STEPN

STEPN is a move to earn NFT game and a lifestyle app made from Web 3, which rewards users for completing physical activities. Users earn GMT tokens by walking, cycling, etc. The more active you are, the higher amount of GMT you can earn, which can then be used to buy in-game items, such as new avatars and upgrades. You can even trade your GMT tokens on exchanges or use them for investments in other forms of crypto. With an easy user interface and amazing rewards, STEPN is a great option for those looking to start their cryptocurrency journey. (3)

(2) Genopets

Genopets is a pet raising game that allows users to earn GENE tokens by using movements to care for their spirit animal, which undergoes evolution through your daily engagements. The better you care for your pet, the more GENE you will likely earn. Traveling the Genovese requires you to upgrade your Genopet NFTs by converting your movement into GENES. You can sell your GENES to other players or trade NFTs in the marketplace. Users can use their move-to-earn cryptocurrency to enter competitions and participate on the leader boards. With its main focus on community involvement, Genopets is a great move-to-earn game for anyone looking to socialize and get rewarded for physical movement.

(3) Sweat coin

Sweat coin is another game in this genre that rewards users for physical movements. For every Thousand steps you take, you earn a certain amount of SWEAT. You can then use it to buy upgrades in the Sweatcoin market, such as fitness gear, gift cards, and electronicsIn the 1st quarter of 2022, Sweatcoin participants have traded 70 million dollars worth of goods within the marketplace in exchange for their movements. You can also use your SWEAT for investments in cryptocurrency or other assets. For example, users can use your SWEAT to purchase tokens from a popular blockchain-based company called Ripple.

(4) OliveX

Through this app, you earn DOSE by walking every day. The app tracks your movements, which are converted into tokens called DOSE. You can afterward cash in your DOSE for rewards like gift cards. You can even make donations to charity.

Use the app to move your way up levels, which gives you access to new games and challenges. DOSE can be used to buy in-game items, like new character skins or upgrades.

(5) Step

The Step App is the final app on this list where you compete in the Metasphere through virtual reality and turn your outputs into income through friendly competitions. You start by selecting a SNEAK NFT and use it as your workout gear to move and earn cryptocurrency. Users can also make non-Sneak purchases like skins or upgrades. You can compete against your friends or strangers. Running allows you to earn SNEAKs which can be used later to earn KCALs, the cryptocurrency for this game. Step App is an amazing way to earn while using move-to-earn because you get paid to work out and have fun while competing with others. (4)

Are these programs safe? Could I get scammed?

Yes, the programs listed above are safe to use. The chances of you getting scammed are relatively low if proper caution is exercised. What makes many people hesitant to use these programs is their sheer uncertainty. For example, New Stepn players must first invest in NFT sneakers, where they are encouraged to earn in-game tokens that allow them to mint more sneaker NFTs. These can be used to buy and sell in secondary markets. From past experiences, these systems have proved to be unsustainable. If no new external capital is placed into the project, the cycle eventually produces a diminishing token price and fails to attract new users. (5)

However, these apps encourage a healthier lifestyle and users to go outside. Innovations in the future would follow a similar path by integrating real-world scenarios with Virtual realities to create programs similar to these.
